With immediate effect we are pleased to announce extended functionality of the World Text Email to SMS Gateway, now supporting emails written in Unicode / UTF-8 character sets, for example Chinese and Arabic to name just a couple of languages. Your Email to SMS will be transmitted onwards to the destination network retaining your existing language and encoding.
The Special Feature can be enabled on your Email to SMS Gateway Settings Page in the ‘Special’ tab.
Please be aware that sending messages which are encoded in this way will reduce the total character count that is possible per message, please see more about GSM and Unicode SMS lengths.
Our other methods of sending SMS such as the web based Communicator Pro, HTTP REST API and SMPP API all already support Unicode / UTF-8 encoded messages as standard.
